About the Book
Before lock-down 2020 I visited Venice to photograph its splendor but was taken with its more intimate side. The small canal alleys of flaking brickwork compare starkly with the decadent shops and tourist traps of San Marco.
On my return to my home village of Shardlow, coincidentally also founded on canals, we were soon isolated in lock-down. Exploring my neighbourhood as I'd never before, I found a similar pattern of beauty and decay. These images reflect this period and of my image making in an extraordinary time

About the Creator
Martin Arrowsmith
Derbyshire, UK
After 33 years in industry I have been glad to hang up the laptop and pick up the camera and visit some of the most photogenic areas of the world. I document the travel with phone and camera and delight in putting together sequences of photographs that show connections, either real or implied. The books are the output from these juxtapositions. Other than travel photography my passion is for the landscape of the UK and particularly my home county of Derbyshire. Visit my Flickr page for a presentation of the breadth of my camera work.
