It started when Lori Maloney was invited to collaborate on a project to capture all 366 birthdays in a year; however, when that project was abandoned by the editor, Lori decided to publish the portraits that she had captured: 53 Birthdays - A Portrait Collection.

Lori's mission was and remains: to collaborate with her subjects in pursuit of authentic portraits they love. The portraits within this book include a range of both subject and setting, and offer us a glimpse into what birthdays might mean.
