About the Creator
My photographic work carries the imprint of 25 years as a practicing architect. I am interested in the physical and creative environments that we construct for ourselves, their uses, intimacies and implications, and how time imprints and alters the relationships between us and the built world. The architectural photographs that I make merge my passions for architecture and photography. I engage buildings as inhabited, experiential, three-dimensional places within the landscape. My images reflect the very nature of the camera-captured image by acknowledging that all structures, photographs, and lives, exist over a period of time. I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and live in Seattle, Washington. Duwamish Remains, my ongoing project that dissects the infrastructural and watershed history of Seattle's River, has engaged childhood memories of the years spent on the industrialized waterways of my home town. www.kirkhostetter.com
