Exceptional snow event in Zurich on January 14 and 15, 2021: A warm front, which was part of a low pressure system over the Nordic Seas, hit Switzerland on January 14, 2021. Cold air flowing in from the north lifted the milder air masses and further intensified the precipitation process. This led to new snow accumulations in the region of Zurich of 30-50cm. Amounts of new snow on one day of around 30cm occur in Zurich on average only every 10-15 years.
