About the Book
Here at Read The Rainbow, we believe in reading aloud as a family every day. We believe in creating a diverse collection of books, that represent the human rainbow.
This catalog focuses on early American history read-aloud books. Included in this volume, is a variety of book recommendations for all ages. We believe that you're never too old to enjoy a beautiful picture book. If a book is written correctly, kids, teens, and adults will take something away from it. Because no read-aloud is complete without food! We have included over 20 recipes for you, and your children to make together. Pick a book from the carefully curated booklist, find a treat to make, and cozy up for a beautiful read aloud as a family.
In this issue, we start from the very first Americans and work our way through to the Civil Rights Movement era. You're provided with a detailed group of books, that have been organized by the time era in American history. Each curated booklist comes with a full introduction of why, and how we paired each book with each other. You'll be given a detailed review of each book, along with book titles and author information.
Our goal was to help you learn about American history, through reading aloud as a family unit. Encouraging others to have those deeper conversations with their children, all while finding the beauty in the human rainbow.
This is an opportunity to read about certain people you may have not heard of before. Highlighting events that may lead to deeper family discussions, and showing an array of colorful bodies coming together to make a change.
Whether you check out the books from your local library or purchase them for your home library, I hope to support you on this journey.
