About the Book
The Quantum Quilt uses thirty symbol tiles, one hundred color palettes, and five glitch methods to produce infinitely variable, evolving artwork. At random intervals, it saves the current state of the canvas as an image file. This album was curated out of over 7,000 images produced between January and February 2021.
Inspired by the unpredictability of quantum systems, the project continuously balances random behavior ratios to oscillate between order and chaos. Its main subroutine attempts to generate a clean grid of geometric elements, while five glitch processes fight against it — interrupting the process with unique challenges and unexpected property changes.
The Quantum Quilt was coded in 2021 by Quba Michalski, using Processing 3.
This is the second of two books in the series. Also available: The Quantum Quilt: Mono.
