About the Book
What builds a home? A front porch that invites us inside? A warm meal set on top of the dining table? A sanctuary creating a safe space for our family to gather?
Butterflies find their home in sheltered spaces that keep them safe from heavy winds, they find their home where milkweed grows providing nourishment to their growing bodies, and they find their home in peaceful structures where the sunlight brings the calm.
A home for the butterflies paints a picture of the places Samantha Joy grew up in and the way each space built a home on its own providing new growth each time. The memories are reflections of the moments that stayed with her up until this point, and the people that helped her grow along the way.

About the Creator
Samantha Joy
San Francisco, CA
Samantha Joy is a Southern California native, never too far from the water, and always seeking the smell of salted air and quite a bit of sunshine. Some of her favorite things include freshly cut flowers from the farmers’ market, a steaming cup of fresh lavender almond milk coffee, and wild and spontaneous adventures. After 29 years she has found most beauty comes from realization after heartache, reflection on the nights we surrender to, and the moments when we’ve finally made it out of the weeds. She currently lives in San Francisco with her boyfriend, Shawn, and their small black and white Chinese Crested Powderpuff, Rufio.
