About the Book
During the Christmas season our calendars become filled, often leaving us little to no time to focus on the true meaning of Christmas. This six week Advent study, Make Room, is designed to lead women to cut back on the amount of activities + demands the season brings in order to make room for Christ.
“…the time came for her to give birth + she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths + laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.” - Luke 2:6-7
There’s a good chance you’ve heard the Christmas story; in fact, you may hear it every Christmas season. Joseph and Mary were in Bethlehem because of a Roman census. When they arrived to Bethlehem, the town was packed + they were turned away from a place to stay. An innkeeper sent them away because there was no place for them, or at least he didn’t bother making room. The story of the innkeeper teaches us a very important lesson. This story is what led me to write this Advent study, Make Room.
The innkeeper didn’t want to be bothered + if we are honest with ourselves, there is a chance that we too often push Jesus out of our lives and dismiss Jesus just as the innkeeper did. We become so preoccupied with careers, parties, shopping, school, sports, + activities that we simply forget or choose to not make room for Jesus, especially at Christmas time when the world is pulling us in so many different worldly directions.
You know that feeling exhaustion during the Christmas season that weighs so heavily on your shoulders every year? Yeah, I often feel it too. This season, let’s change that. Let’s make room for Christ + when we do, we will begin to feel that weight lifted as we lay it all down at the foot of the cross in adoration of our Lord and Savior.
This is a call to slow down and make room for Christ this Christmas.
