    About the Book

    Edit

"The immigrant is someone who, by definition, is on the outside looking in, someone whose trip really begins after he arrives." Passages by Brian D. Johnson--this to me is such a moving statement and the more I thought about it; I yearned to discover the family that came before I.

A profound statement; I know. And I realized that we exist in thought, speech and our actions. And then being of this measure, made the imagery become fruition.
I yearned to discover the family that came before I.

This book is the Lineage of Ioann/Ivan Kalyniuk (1814-1867), Stepan Kalyniuk (1836-1886), and Stepan three children (Anastasia, Dimitric, Iwan) who journeyed across the Trans-Atlantic for a better way of life--all for you and I.

I was from a young age, always engaged with the many people in my family through various functions and gatherings. I wanted a way to preserve, introduce, and encourage those that are related to continue to stay in touch-and this book has done just that.

Suddenly all of my ancestors are behind me. "Be Still." they say
Watch and listen; you are the result of the LOVE of thousands.

Together as a family we have completed our collaboration and traced our ancestors back to 1814, found and confirmed 932 people in our family tree, with 237 family units. The one book hosts all three of the Canadian Kalyniuk connection (the History from 1814-to present day with the support of: Cadastral Maps, Metrical Ukrainian documents, the History of the village, the emigration piece-"the lure", ships manifests, the Dominion Land titles, Naturalization, original Rural Municipal Maps, supporting documents, photos, articles of significance/clothing and remembrance, with individual Chapter pages including our "renewed family connection" in the Ukraine. I have completed a labor of love, and I am glad I ventured the way of my heart. Enjoy, and welcome to the family!
