We are living through a tumultuous period in history. The world is beginning to return to anew normal after years of a global pandemic, Russia has invaded Ukraine, women’s rights are being restricted nationally and globally, and nationalists seem to be rising in power in many parts of the world. Though the world seems to be going through a particularly volatile period, we believe this can lead to a vibrant moment of creative expression. We chose our theme, ‘Here and Now, Signs of the Time’ because we feel that the pressing issues around us present an opportunity to forge human connections.

AdornAxis asked artists from around the world to submit work showing us where they are now, either mentally or physically, and what inspires them during this particular period in history we are currently living through. We wanted to know what issues are they most passionate about? What do they feel represents the society we are currently living in? We were hoping to gain insight into the lives of people around the world, and the submissions we received did not disappoint us.

The resulting exhibition included 55 artists from 22 countries.
