    About the Book

    Edit

Finding herself alone in India with just a backpack, Hasselblad camera, and 100+ rolls of film, she was terrified yet certain. This was no accident. Despite her best laid plans, the universe had something bigger and better in mind.
At the age of 23 in the year 1995, Amie Potsic bravely forged ahead on a solo journey for one year in India and Israel. After being suddenly left alone by her travel partner, she responded by gathering up her courage and photographing the epicenters of human spirituality – the eastern Holy Land of India and the western Holy Land of Israel. A story of adventure and heart, this gorgeous collection of colorful and surprising photographs of people and religious ritual enliven a sense of beauty and wonder. Inspired by legendary photographers Dorothea Lange and W. Eugene Smith, Potsic’s images reflect her compassionate search for connection and an impressive eye for the decisive moment. Combined with journal entries, contact sheets, and maps she gathered on her journey, these intimate images of meaningful moments in time shed light on our history and humanity.
