About the Book
Susan Witney, a selected index of early work and final work.
Susan Witney studied MA Photography at the Royal College of Art 1981-83 under John Hedgecoe and Michael Langford, and with tutor Eduardo Paolozzi, she graduated with the Vogue Prize for Photography with her work featured on the front cover of the British Journal of Photography, an early sign of an uncanny ability to get the front cover.
A professional career in the world of editorial began in 1983 as a photography intern at Vogue in Hanover Square London, where she met the likes of Norman Parkinson and others, whilst working on portrait and still life commissions.
Early exhibitions such as New Contemporaries Institute of Contemporary Art London 1983 and Three Women Photographers 1985 National Poetry Society, with Susan Lipper and Emily Andersen, helped to establish her reputation as a photographer.
The photography within this book was gathered from archive material representing the artists early work and most recent personal work. Middle period and editorial or commercial work is not included.
We have not been able to include the artists acclaimed editorial portrait and garden work in this volume, as the quantity requires a separate research project. The work is therefore outside the remit of this book but may be included in a future volume.
Large format landscape edition.
