An Artistic Journey My evolution as an artist has taken me down several different paths. I began painting in watercolor in the studio from photographs and after taking watercolor workshops I started painting the landscape outdoors from life. Most of my work was an interpretation of the world around us. A major breakthrough was taking the landscape and rearranging it into a striking design. I was also painting and drawing from live models and I continue that practice to this day. Once the ability to depict the human form has been mastered, then everything else becomes easy. I find the act of painting outdoors breathes an atmosphere into the work that would be difficult to replicate in the studio from photographs. The medium of watercolor lends itself to an impressionistic interpretation of the scene.
