About the Book
Cowboys, trappers, ranchers, politicians and millionaires are a few of the characters Felicity encounters growing up in Chilcotin Lodge at Riske Creek during the 1940s’ and 50s’. She describes the way of life by telling her own family’s story, the stories of her neighbours and the history of “The Lodge”. Tying fish eggs on a hook with your own hair, riding a horse bareback across the open range, skinning a squirrel or listening to classical music were all part of Felicity’s Chilcotin education. Her stories and bibliographies are told with wit, love an humour. The reader will be captivated by Felicity’s yarns, photographs and paintings that vividly describe a bygone Chilcotin lifestyle.
