In a world that is becoming smaller with our increased ability to visit far-away places, as people we are becoming dislocated. This series of photographs is a melancholy investigation into the notion of home.



In 2010, I spent five months in the United States travelling from New York to Las Vegas, stopping for the longest time in the state of New Mexico, also called the Land of Enchantment.



The photographs are made with a mobile phone, the ultimate symbol of our physical mobility and distanced communication. Presenting the images in book form, however, encourages an intimacy between photographer and viewer that is increasingly missing from our everyday lives. Like film stills, the images form a narrative of moments that reflect the beauty, terror and occasional disenchantment of being a lone explorer in unfamiliar territory.
