About the Book
The Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2008 moves from it's monumental premises - a former bank - on Van Baerlestraat to it's new home in the docklands. On the very last day moving day, photographer Paul van Riel wanders through the vacated building, all rehearsal rooms, concert halls, storage rooms and corridors are empty, Left behind on floors and walls are but a handful of silent witnesses of 23 years of music history at this remarkable national monument. The past will however live on in the name of it's new occupant, the Conservatorium Hotel.
