About the Book
The “collected writings” of Richard (Dick) Dale Robertson (my father) were first made available electronically in 2004.
All these writings were in Mum’s bottom desk drawer, and while she had likely told us they were there many years ago, I did not remember them until I went looking for Family Tree material to help with the presentation that was produced in 2003 in an Audio-Visual electronic format. Concurrent with the publication of this book, the Family Tree has been published in hard copy format. In the Family Tree book, many pictures can be found that fit with the writings contained in this book.
Dad was a very prolific writer at times, although you will see not all writings were finished. But most are complete, not necessarily to the detail that he might have liked I suspect.
The Geneva letters from Dick to Phyl, were felt by Phyl to be too personal for anyone but her to read. Obviously the editor disagrees...
I do not claim that the material has been thoroughly proofed and edited, but hopefully there are not too many errors left in the transcriptions. After discussion with several “authorities” a decision was made to correct spelling errors (the English vs US spelling was left in tact). However sentences and paragraphs were allowed to run on (and on) as originally written.
Vernacularisms and anachronisms were left in place.
The originals were made available to the National Library and Archives of Canada in mid 2005.
