The Road to Samarkand follows the Silk Road from Almaty to Samarkand. It follows where The Ancient Silk Road Part 1 concluded. It is a quest to see the dome on Tamerlane's tomb, twin to one in Herat, Afghanistan which Angela saw when travel to Soviet Central Asia was difficult. She vowed one day to see it.
