About the Book
Andrew Gronholdt was a famous Aleut artist who helped bring the lost art of carving, steaming, and bending Aleut bentwood hats back to life and is fondly remembered as an excellent instructor - inspiring his students to learn the ancient art. Some of his students such as Okalena Patricia Lekanoff-Gregory went on to teach thousands of students at week-long Aleut Culture Camps how to carve, steam and bend these intriguing hats - dating back thousands of years.
