About the Book
This book is a collection of photographs taken over a seven-year period from 2001-2008. They are bound together by having been taken at locations in and around Lillian, AL. Lillian is a small, unicorporated community roughly eight miles as a pelican flies due north of the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. It is far from the condos and the sand.
The interaction of the land with the salt and fresh waters suffuses the Coastal Plain with a soft light that is constantly changing and never quite repeats itself. This creates a never-ending panorama of times and places that catch the eye and beg to be shared.

A native Vermonter, I have lived and worked in Birmingham, AL since 1970. A camera has always been within easy reach, and, even though I have been taking photographs since 1966, I just became a photographer within the past two years. That transformation is an interesting concept... I can be contacted at dcorliss@restoration-photo.com.
