About the Book
If You See Something is a collection of photographs shot between September 2013 and January 2014 in and around New York City with a Kodak Instamatic camera.
This was my first camera, given to me on my eighth birthday. After many years as a photographer, I decided to revisit my roots by shooting with the camera that introduced me to photography.
It was liberating to shoot with such a simple camera that reduces picture making to the basics. If you see something: shoot. Displaying multiple frames side by side created surprising juxtapositions and transitions, which let me share how I see from one image to the next.
Composing a photo is a deliberate act that I have underscored by printing the area around each image. The flow from one image to the next is my unique signature that captures the way I see what's around me.
