    About the Book

    Edit

Reclamation documents the story of a public work of art installed along Seattle’s Burke-Gilman Trail in December of 2013. Bridging a network of crossroads, two bronze forms, ALREADY and NOT YET, create a set of parenthesis. These mark the foundations of an arc in space, completed in the viewer’s imagination. Within a five-minute walk, living, dying and regenerating native species compose REMAIN at site two. When juxtaposed, these two sites engage trail users in a conversation about the act of coming and going, about spiritual and physical regeneration. The project reflects SDOT’s commitment to establishing and supporting Seattle’s greenways, and the continuous labors of those who voluntarily maintain the park year round. Reclamation was commissioned with Seattle Department of Transportation 1% for Art funds, administered by the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture.
