VIENNA, second in the new series of photobook portfolios by cultural historian and photographer Marco Buechl, is a collection of 64 uncropped b/w-photographs. Taken between 2009 and 2014, their aim is to showcase sides of Vienna not covered in depth in any given travel guide. So the city’s waterways form a center of gravity around which this collection of photographs is orbiting, as well as motifs sometimes overlooked in the shadows of St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the classic inner city destinations of interest. ///// THE PHOTOGRAPHS were taken on digital SLR cameras, while technique followed a classic approach with predominant use of unifocal lenses and maximum depth of field.
