About the Book
Antarctica is one of the most scenic places on earth with its majestic snow and ice covered black volcanic mountains, glaciers, and icebergs. The Antarctic peninsula is a majestic place whose serenity is only broken by the wind and the loud mating calls of the penguins.
The Antarctica continent was formed around 25 million years ago during the breakup of the Gondwana supercontinent and is centered around the South pole.
Despite its remote and hostile environment, the shores of the Antarctic peninsula are inhabited by millions of pairs of Gentoo, Chinstrap, Adelie, and Macaroni penguins and other marine wildlife including whales and seals. This massive biosystem is sustained by the abundant swarms of Antarctic krill which feed on the phytoplankton that is produced in the Southern ocean during the long summer days.
