The Carnival in Venice is known for its elaborate masks and sumptuous costumes that shroud the spectators in an opulent fantasy. It is a veritable show of dazzling design and craftsmanship. "Handmade" is the subtitle of my Carnival book this year in honor of the Venetian mascareri and all the artists who spend countless hours making the extraordinary costumes.
