The AMERICAN GLASS GUILD (AGG) is delighted to present the artwork in this publication from its fourth juried exhibit of contemporary stained glass - AMERICAN GLASS NOW: 2015 - installed at the Washington National Cathedral, in Washington DC. The exhibit is held in conjunction with the AGG's 10th Annual Conference (June 18-21, 2015) .
Congratulations to artists Kathy Barnard, Joseph Cavalieri, Mary Clerkin Higgins, Marie Foucault-Phipps, Saara Gallin, Anthony Glander, Nancy Gong, J. Kenneth Leap, Ellen Mandelbaum, Sean Merchant, Troy Moody, Nancy Nicholson, Scott Ouderkirk, Nicholas Parrendo, Richard Prigg, Patrice Schelkun and Amy Valuck. And thank you to our jurors - Dr. Virginia Raguin, Judith Schaechter, and Cynthia Williams.
The Jurors will present the American Glass Guild's "AGNX Awards for Excellence in the Art of Stained Glass". For criteria the judges consider: creative use of materials, original expression, aesthetic impact, clarity of narrative, and complexity of execution. 2014 Awards were given to Mary Clerkin Higgins and Richard Prigg.
AMERICAN GLASS NOW supports stained glass as an art form by giving artists the opportunity to experiment, show their skills, be ambitious, have a dialogue with fellow artists, and show the public what the art of stained glass can be.
The AMERICAN GLASS GUILD is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging art, conservation, and historical research in stained, leaded, and decorative glass.
Special thanks to Nancy Nicholson for producing the catalogue and postcard, to Tony Glander for building the walls for the installation, to Mary Clerkin Higgins,Tony Glander, Nancy Nicholson and Scott Ouderkirk for the installation and to the Washington National Cathedral for hosting this exhibit.
