    About the Book

    Edit

Established in 1994, Ana Williamson Architect is a full service architectural firm focused on design driven projects primarily in the residential market. With over 20 years experience, the firm has completed numerous homes in the California bay area as well as Mexico and Colombia. Past projects have included new custom homes, extensive remodels, additions, interior renovations and feasibility studies.

At AWA, we believe that the best projects result from a true collaboration between client and architect. We have no prescribed style and believe that each project should be client and site specific. The unique program, opportunities and constraints that accompany each project inform our approach and result in innovative solutions. We are interested in the exploration of an architectural language that transcends the notion of conventional design in the quest for aesthetic beauty while being mindful of the project goals and budgetary constraints. In addition, we are committed to a sustainable practice with emphasis on research and materials. We strive to create buildings that are beautiful, environmentally conservative, energy efficient and materially non-toxic.

In practice, AWA believes the process of design begins with the first site visit and continues all the way through construction. We place high emphasis on space, form and natural light. We are committed to realizing the intangible needs of our clients and transforming them into a uniquely crafted building. At AWA, we measure our success by the degree to which we create strong client relationships based on trust that ultimately result in high performing and aesthetically pleasing works of architecture.

885 Santa Cruz Ave. A, Menlo Park, CA 94025

Prior to founding AWA in 1994, Ana worked with Alvaro Siza Vieira in Porto, Portugal (1992 Pritzker Laureate), and with Michael Graves Architect in Princeton, New Jersey (2001 Gold Medal of the AIA). These experiences with two of the world’s most influential architects played a defining role in cementing Ana’s passion for modern design, while developing her thorough understanding and respect for classical traditions. She earned her Masters Degree in Architecture at Princeton University, and her Bachelor of Design from the University of Florida. She was born in Bogota, Colombia, and gained her first exposure to architecture from her uncle Vicente Nasi, an Italian born, South American architect contemporary of Le Corbusier. Her practice in Menlo Park CA has focused on residential projects that reflect her passion for a truly successful architectural process, fulfilling the requirements of its customers with a balance of design, sustainability, and thoughtful execution.
