About the Book
The Nine Sisters are an ancient chain of volcanic peaks that stretch in a rare alignment of hills from San Luis Obispo to Morro Bay, California. These striking landmarks offer local residents and visitors protection from recurring winds and an endless visual view of natural beauty. The craggy mountains rose from the ocean over 20 million years ago and were formed from the plugs of long-extinct volcanoes.
"The trail brings the traveler suddenly in sight of Bishop Peak... The town is fairly encircled with beautiful hills... the one just named being most conspicuous." - John Muir, 1883
