About the Book
The project started as an animated-film back in 1997, when I still lived in Brazil, and was graduating from college with a BA in Fine Arts. At the time, I was working in an animation studio, doing short movies using mixed techniques. I was also studying sculpture and lithography.
In 2001, I moved to England for a year, where I exhibited my acrylic paintings. Being far from home and in a different culture inspired me to draw obsessively. In a few months I filled two large sketch books with hundreds of drawings and scribbles, which now I have been using as one of the main sources for the Graphiconstruk project.

About the Creator
I am Nando Leira, a Chicago artist and photographer from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Graphiconstruk project started out as a sketchbook while I was living in Brighton, England in 2001. Now it consists of a continuous series of drawings, paintings, photographs, time-lapse and 360 degree videos. I have expanded the project to take advantage of several materials and techniques, where original and repeated works both merge and/or duplicate into new finished pieces. The subjects are mostly social scenes and everyday life or average people’s portraits. The experimentation ends up as a methodical repetition to build a new reality every time. Constructing a graphic anthropophagy. I am always looking for new projects and the opportunity to collaborate with other artists and musicians. Feel free to contact me if you think we could create something cool together.
