About the Ebook
This second edition tells the story of Temporary Workers of America after they won the vote for exclusive representation on September 11, 2014 for a lab on the Microsoft's Redmond campus. While hired via a supplier,
Lionbridge Technologies, the employees worked exclusively for Microsoft, reviewing apps toward their certification for the Windows Store. Creating a union was a first for all of them and also a first in the high tech field. Trying to agree to a contract via collective bargaining proved difficult and progress was made via a different strategy, reaching out directly to Microsoft's Board of Directors and the media. Much remains to be done to make sure the thousands of people working for Microsoft via suppliers have decent benefits like paid parental leave, paid company holidays similar to the ones of Microsoft, better salaries. This second edition details this story still in the making.
