When I moved to Santa Cruz in 1971 and attended the University of California, the first thing that struck me were the houses with names on their facades. I set out to photograph them and the other houses I saw. The photographs became my first solo show. In 2017, while going through the basement at my late mother’s apartment, I came across the prints from that show. At the time my intention had been to do a book and here it is.
