    About the Book

    Edit

This book is written for practitioner's of concrete, those who need to know concrete from mix to pour to performance. Concrete is one of the most commonly used construction materials in the world, and one of the most ancient – predating the Roman era. In its simplest and most basic form it is mixed from Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water. Design of various mixes with additional materials are done to account for local materials in the mix. Additives available include air entraining agents, water reducing agents, as well as alternate cementitious materials such as fly ash, etc. The needs of the project are foremost but generally the mix design is to make the strongest, yet cheapest combination of materials.
