Pokagon State Park in Angola, Indiana, is a treasure of natural beauty. Swamp lands and ponds, meadows and wooded hills create habitat for wildflowers and wildlife.
Spring weather and subtle colors draw many out to the trails. In summer the park is an excellent place to see dragonflies and bluebirds and the brightest of the annual wildflowers; in fall the foliage colors are show-stoppers. Winter snow displays the tracks of wild residents, and leafless trees allow birds to be seen with greater ease.
Cheryl Molin is a local author and photographer who hikes the trails at any opportunity.
