About the Book
With his concise photo book Monumental Beauty, Robert Wells has captured the grandeur and beauty of victorian era cemeteries that were, and are today as much art museums as memorials to the deceased. These cemeteries, because they predated public parks, were popular sanctuaries from nearby gritty cities. With their magnificently sculpted monuments and lush plantings they were popular destinations on weekends and holidays.
