Flowers and Concrete is a catalog of work from 2014 - 2017 that explores the contrast of materiality. The work takes on a sort-of absurd construction of dialogue. It addresses the traditional, often figurative and romantic notions of beauty as separate materials. These ideas exchange with and elevate the quotidian in Noto's work. This conversation creates a drama between the everydayness of contemporary objects with the aura of historical painting. It stages the easy indifference of the present propped up by the glory pf the past. This contrariety is where Noto's work finds it's legs. He is currently interested in the space between store bought tennis balls, concrete, duct tape and a really sensual oil painting.
