About the Book
More than 30 years ago, he took his first serious photographs. On holiday, he traveled to a remote part of Nova Scotia, Canada, with plans to make a realistic account of the exciting landscape. There were two surprises. First, the objective record of his vacation was in no way fulfilling. And by great coincidence, years later he found out that the Canadian landscape he was camping in, was then the new home of legendary photographer and master of the subjective image, Robert Frank.
In time, he would understand that photography was not an objective form of communication. And the subjective point of view would remain something to always strive for in not only his personal work but also in his assignments. While this may sometimes be out of reach, it would never hurt to try.
And 25 years after that vacation to Nova Scotia, I would meet and photograph Robert Frank his role model.
