About the Book
Mixing bodily fluids, running down her ivory neck, as she gently twists the hand of the police officer. A white linen sheet sails smoothly in the evening breeze. Matte-black satin stockings, super-glued onto the metallic door frame, and the Indian temple bell chimes twice. Ruth holds her engagement diamond between her thumb and index finger, as the ruby-red nail polish air-dries. Her husky, sitting in front of her knees, sneezes. Out from nowhere, an icy draft howls and growls through the corridor covered in a navy-blue, thick carpet with golden lily pattern. She must bring her stilettos to the shoemaker to polish up the scratches from her lover. Dizzily, the neighbour lady in her mid-forties, wearing faux fur, exits through the heavy wooden front door, just as a driving by yellow cab mounts a blue flashing light onto the roof. It’s only quarter moon, and the oysters already smell fishy rotten. Beige pebbles drop from the sky, eating up the sugar crusts from the doughnuts. Then, Lexi pulls over her silver Cadillac, steps over the curb, and the black rat with its hairless tail hides in an old sock. Mid-autumn leaves, and moist lemon cake with steamy Ceylon tea. Promenading hand in hand, her husband Carl kicks an empty beer can into the neighbour’s lawn, as a sheer act of kindness. Hereafter, the blackout numbs the entire suburb into fairyland, and their toddler cosily pulls his smelly blanket over his chest. Suzy, the fluffy Persian cat, tips her paw into the jar with strawberry marmalade. She must remember to bring her dirty underwear to the baker. Midnight, and a satellite transmits the news from the Far East.
