Emily Porter was the link connecting the Porter ancestors with the Strong, Beach and Greene ancestors. John Porter and family emigrated from England in 1630. The Porter and Strong families were among the founders of Windsor, Connecticut. Later they moved on to settle the village of Hebron where the Porter, Strong and Beach families lived for generations before living in New York, homestead of the Greene ancestors.
