About the Book
In 2013 Sophie won the BP Travel Award which enabled her to research early 17th century lace and portraiture and travel to art and lace collections in the UK, Belgium and The Netherlands. She examined how fabrics and lace were depicted in those paintings and created a new series of paintings inspired by her findings. This book tells the story of her year; art history, fashion and lace history, the making of the paintings and a catalogue section.
