Benjamin Folkman has been President of The Tcherepnin Society since January 2000. He has served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Bowdoin College in Maine, giving lectures and lecture recitals at various other colleges and universities, as well as pre-concert lectures at Lincoln Center in New York. As a composer, Mr. Folkman is represented on commercial discs, by his Micropartita for Piano, but is better known to the public as the winner of a gold record for his collaboration on the landmark electronic album Switched-On Bach. Prominent also for his writings on music, he has produced more than 150 essays for the New York Philharmonic pro¬gram book, as well as articles for Opera News, Opera Now, Stagebill, Performing Arts and Playbill. In 2012 Mr. Folkman gave the keynote address, "Alexander Tcherepnin: A Eurasian Composer in China," at Shanghai Conservatory’s International Forum of Tcherepnin and Chinese Music Culture, held in honor of the conservatory’s 85th anniversary.
