Gary grew up in a rural community in north-western PA and graduated from Penn State University in 1977. He went on to serve in the Peace Corps as a secondary school math, physics and chemistry teacher and also worked on many rural development projects. After the Peace Corps, Gary worked as a programmer and mainframe support at NASA Lewis Research Center (now NASA Glenn) for ten years. Gary then worked twenty-five years at Lubrizol in the Cleveland area and retired as Senior IT Technical Architect of Data Storage. Gary continues to enjoy his lifelong hobby of photography, gardening and wine-making. Gary is married and has three fine boys, all Eagle Scouts, who are now fine men with their own families.
